Grateful Remnants Visit & Workshops

  1. Paint to Print

Painting to have your designs digitised on fabric for yardage (by the metre) is quite different to painting for cushions or hanging on a wall. Our Hub ladies are more confident and skilled when painting for yardage (by the metre). Sue spent time with our business owners graphically designing and preparing their art work for printing by the Epsom team in Sydney. The team phoned in from NSW where the ladies took part online in a tour of head office and watched their art being digitised and printed. The corporate team also received a tour of the hub with each lady proudly showing off their products. This was a wonderful two-way learning experience from regional remote WA to corporate head office in NSW.

  1. Beauty From the Scrap Heap / Waste Not-Want Not
  • Rag Weaving
  • Slow Stitching
  • Mixed Media
  • Textile Collage

All of the above projects provided tips and unexpected ways to turn all their scraps into beautiful and very unique purses, wallets, table runners, bags and floor rugs. Sue posted and bought bags and bags of scraps for everyone to design with.

Everything from tiny pieces of scrap cotton, wool and fabric was utilised.

This has changed the way everyone thinks before throwing anything into the bin. We now have storage tubs to sort and collect our valuable scraps. The ultimate goal of eco-friendly and zero waste now feels very achievable.

  1. Quotes from the women:

Sue gave me inspiration for my personal creative journey.

“She opened my yes to new ideas and got me thinking about ways to recycle.”

“Got me thinking about what else we can recycle, herbs, orange peel, maybe a compost bin.”

Everyone unanimously gave Sue a 10/10.
